Discover the playful, colorful world of Gelli plate printing in this two-day, hands-on workshop. Using soft, flexible printing plates and acrylic paints—no press required—you’ll explore how layering, texture, and spontaneous mark-making can create rich and surprising visual results.

On Day 1, you’ll set up a simple hinge registration system and begin building layered backgrounds with stencils, found textures, and direct drawing. On Day 2, you’ll design a custom image to print over your backgrounds, finishing with optional collage and hand-coloring to bring even more depth and personality to your work.

Whether you’re new to printmaking or looking to loosen up and explore new techniques, this workshop offers a welcoming space to experiment and expand your creative toolkit.

James brings years of teaching experience and a process-oriented approach that encourages creative exploration and joyful discovery.
